Friday in the office and we have our usual short discussion about all things eco. A new eco-friendly washing machine is mentioned. I investigate and find the Sanyo AWD-AQ1 – the world’s first drum type washer/dryer to utilise ozone in the cleaning process.
I’ll have one, please Sanyo, and I’ll recommend it to all my friends ) Thanks Jim for the tip.
Monday morning and I get a tip in my inbox from my friend Dave W who has just bought some recycled trainers. And they’re quite funky. Worn Again is a collaboration between small London based shoe designers Terra Plana and Anti-Apathy – a not for profit organisation that promotes awareness and action for positive social change. Apparently making shoes is one of the most toxic, polluting resource intensive industries there is. In addition to using recycled materials for the shoes, Worn Again has partnered with Climate Care and hopes eventually to make each shoe 100% carbon neutral. Good for them.
I try not to buy stuff. I’m down-shifting and recognise that even although my footwear collection is relatively small for a girl, it’s probably actually bigger than I need (if I count the pretty shoes that I don’t wear). I’ve resisted buying a pair so far. We’ll see how long that lasts.
